GRETA

Jude writes: “Greta was adopted as a young “lady” last year to be a friend for an eight-year-old dobe. She was unfortunately too energetic and demanding for him, and for many other dogs as well as a few humans. Plus she needs Proin for some urinary leakage- not unusual in spayed dobes. So she’s back. She is about 1-1/2 to 2 years old, and is needing a bit of slimming which is happening. She weighs 88 pounds and we will get her down to 75 by hook or by crook! (update 2/15 weight was 77 pounds) She’s a housepet, as are all our Dobies, likes some other boy dogs (not particularly black dogs for some reason) but she is a major female dobe and prefers to boss them around. She loves her Blue Buffalo dry and canned meals twice a day and her beef marrow bone at night. She’s spayed, vaccinated, microchipped. on on heartworm preventative. On January 15, 2014 Greta was having a radiographic test to determine if she had an issue with misplacement of the urethra causing the urinary issues she’s had. The veterinarian called and said our sweet Greta had a reaction to the dye and crashed. They worked on her for 40 minutes with CPR, drugs, and compressions and 8 times with cardiac electropaddles and could not get her heart functional again.

We are devastated.

Karen writes: “Daphne is a 3-4yo blk/rust N/D, 65 lb velcro dog. She lets you know when someone is approaching but once she meets them, she’s a sweet, kissy face girl.
She has good house manners, likes other dogs & cats & enjoys long walks on a leash. She is very smart & learns quickly.”

Daphne is fostered in Orange county.

Cyrano is an 85-pound black/tan handsome boy. He’s 7 years old, housebroken, and likes to have a spot on the sofa. His owner had a baby and she moved back home with mom, which was supposed to be temporary, but has turned into permanent. Mom has a couple of German Sheperds that don’t get along with Cyrano and vice versa. So poor Cyrano is now living outside. Cyrano is neutered, takes monthly Heartgard, and is up-to-date on vaccines. He was originally rescued from a vet clinic. His owner says he is very sweet and mellow, and loves to chase squirrels.

He loves being part of the family. Cyrano walks on a leash well with a gentle leader, and probably could use a little more training. He will lean on you for affection, and is a big lug. He loves stuffed toys, especially destuffing them.

Cyrano is blind in one eye from being kicked in the head by a horse while with his previous owners.

Here is Willie on his way home. He was adopted and saved!  This is a note from his new owner.

WILLIE IS GREAT! I LOVE HIM!!! He got along with my mom’s dog and cats. He is house broke.He is great in the car. I couldn’t ask for a better dog. Here is a picture of him in the car on the way home. I’ll send more soon. There is a dog park and a dog beach by my house but I’m going to give him sometime to heal from the neutering and get a little more use to me before I take him there.
