About Helen

I'm a Southern California living in South Florida. I've been here for 10 years as of October 1, 2007. No matter where I live, I'm a dog lover, and my breed is the Dobermann Pinscher of the Working Group. I am also fond of the Australian Shepherd of the Herding Group. My life revolves around my dogs, which is something those family members of mine don't understand. So I'm an island in that respect, but have built friendships with those who are doggie lovers and respect the canine as much as I do. Some do rescue, some train in, compete in, and judge AKC trials. The common thread is our dogs are family.

Cyrano – Rescue (one blind eye)

Cyrano

Cyrano is an 85-pound black/tan handsome boy. He’s 7 years old, housebroken, and likes to have a spot on the sofa. His owner had a baby and she moved back home with mom, which was supposed to be temporary, but has turned into permanent. Mom has a couple of German Sheperds that don’t get along with Cyrano and vice versa. So poor Cyrano is now living outside. Cyrano is neutered, takes monthly Heartgard, and is up-to-date on vaccines. He was originally rescued from a vet clinic. His owner says he is very sweet and mellow, and loves to chase squirrels.

He loves being part of the family. Cyrano walks on a leash well with a gentle leader, and probably could use a little more training. He will lean on you for affection, and is a big lug. He loves stuffed toys, especially destuffing them.

Cyrano is blind in one eye from being kicked in the head by a horse while with his previous owners.

Willie – Adopted

Here is Willie on his way home. He was adopted and saved!  This is a note from his new owner.

Willie

WILLIE IS GREAT! I LOVE HIM!!! He got along with my mom’s dog and cats. He is house broke. He is great in the car. I couldn’t ask for a better dog. Here is a picture of him in the car on the way home. I’ll send more soon. There is a dog park and a dog beach by my house but I’m going to give him sometime to heal from the neutering and get a little more use to me before I take him there.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!!!

Four Paws Response to my E-mail

Here are the responses to my e-mails to Four-Paws regarding Chai’s story.

Thank you for your recent note expressing concern over the Four Paws® Pimple Ball with Bell. We were equally alarmed to learn that a dog may have injured himself while playing with this toy.

Dogs have been enjoying the Pimple Ball with Bell for more than a decade with over 500,000 units sold. In all the years this product has been on the market, this is the first injury of this nature that we are aware of. Unfortunately, accidents sometimes happen. That’s why we recommend that dogs always be supervised when they are playing with any toy. We take great care in developing safe products for pets and their owners.

At this point we have identified the problem and are not shipping any more Pimple Balls. We have contacted customers that carry this product and have asked them to immediately return their inventory.

Thank you for your concern and feedback. Please know that we are in direct communication with the pet owner whose dog was injured. At Four Paws, happy pets and satisfied pet owners are our number one priority. Rest assured we will continue to work hard to deliver on our priority.

Sincerely,
