Methods of Carrying the Loop

Taylor loves carrying her loop around her snoot.  She trots around the Fort Doberdale campus as if she’s a walking picture, framed by her loop.

Raven prefers the below-the-snoot method.  This way if she sees something else she wants, she can drop her loop faster in order to grab her newer interest.

Lilian’s loopy, too!

Several Kong Destuffing Methods Revealed

Let’s look at the way a Kong is tackled by three Fort Doberdalians.  Scroll your mouse over each picture to get the 411 on each step.

First we have Lilian.  She is a flinger.

First I grab it by its lip.   Second, I toss it.   Finally, I stretch my incredibly agile body and my swanlike neck to lick something out! Yum.

Taylor is a contemplative Kong destuffer.

First, I think about it.   Then I put my little teethies to work.

Then there’s Raven.  Her method is so complicated that we will have to cover it another day when she’s in the mood to share her secrets of Kong destuffing.

I’m busy in here, what do you want?   Come back later when I can talk more. I’m busy now!

Sunny Thursday

Ginger sun bathing

Today, Ginger enjoyed a good sun bath when I came home at lunch.  She is feeling better and smiling again.

I am grateful for this.  Ginger’s one of the sugar kind of Dobies who’s so sweet she appreciates everything and thensome.

Raven’s kisser

Tonight I had the clicker out for teaching downs.  Raven’s getting along very well with “down,” and she is trying hard to understand “stay,” but that lack of doing anything but being still is a hard concept for Raven to grasp.  But she’s trying.

Of course, only Raven could jam her tooth in between my thumb and its nail hard enough to cause me pain that hasn’t stopped since.  I was giving her a treat!  I don’t think I mention enough what a babe she is.  She has brains, she just shifts from 1st to 4th without consideration to 2nd and 3rd.

Taylor is very smart, too.  So much so that when I wasn’t clicking, she grabbed the clicker, which was attached to a sliding elastic dealio on my waste band, and pulled on it for me to get busy clicking!

Smooch!

I’m beginning to wonder if I should kiss the frog on my window.  He’s faithful, I’ll give him that.  He hasn’t left my window sill since we met and he has a steady job.  Every night he’s on the window bringing home the “bacon.”

Just as important, he knows about my dogs and isn’t jealous of them.  I’ll think about it.

Raven on Lime Safari

Annie went on safari.
Annie solo in the jungle.

Then Raven joined her.
In the jungle, the restless jungle, the lion sleeps tonight.

Annie captured the beast.  She was so fast, I didn’t get a picture.  But I have one of Raven, having taken the prize from the ever-saintly Annie, then squeezing the beast to get lime juice.
Raven’s making lime juice from a Cuz ball

No lime juice, so Raven decided to try something else.  I knew she was up to something when we were all outside and Raven had run into the house.  Moments later, Raven came back out with something in her mouth.  She spat it out.  It was half a lime I had squeezed and left on the counter!  (Luna is looking at Raven as if she lost a few marbles.)
What did you spit out, Raven, a lime?

Raven stared at the lime for most of the afternoon.  She knew the thing was food, but why couldn’t she eat it?  It bit her every time she stuck it in her mouth.
This thing’s not right.

Even Lilian came along to test sniff.
Sniff…sniff…sniff

Nothing convinced Raven to let that lime go.  Raven continued her fascination with that green fruit, while the rest of us wondered, “Just how loopy is Raven?”
“She’s loopy over that lime,” Luna says.

“I’m Raven.  I’m a little loopier than some.”
I’m prretty loopy!

“Than most, lime breath!”
You have lime breath!
Luna’s got a point!

Ginger Tonight

Ginger is feeling better tonight.  She’s chewed on a nylon bone for a while.

Chomp…chomp…chomp.

And threw us some lovely raspberries.  Here’s one.

Pthhhhhpt!

Of course, Raven wanted the bone Ginger had.  Bones taste better when someone else has them.

Raven: “I want that.”

They taste pretty good when you get them for your own, too.

Mine at last!

Helen
P.S. Ginger gave the bone up of her own free will.
