Feelings, Woe Woe Woe, Feelings

I can't believe you want me to do that routine again.

I put the leash on Baby today, and told her it was practice for tomorrow.  I mentioned that she and I will be going to Miami to do the Novice class (again).  I told her this was her photo opp to show the world how enthusiastic she is about this new chance for her to get that 3rd leg and earn her Companion Dog title.  Does this look like enthusiasm?

What? I’m not going? What?

The next step was quite unpleasant.  I had to tell Leissl, the movie star, that she was not going.  Well, this is the look she gave me.  “Where’s my Rescue Remedy?  I need a slurp!”

I love my new yellow ring!   Memorial Day Weekend Gifts

Taylor’s been humming zip-a-dee-doo-dah since she got a new yellow ring in the pile of Memorial Day gifts that arrived in the FDSP’s world on Friday.

Practice Night with Baby

The Irreverent DoberDiva.

Last night was the last Monday night practice for Baby, the irreverent DoberDiva, before Sunday’s AKC trial.  You know the one where she just needs to pass to get her CD?

Well. she did the moving exercises so fine the instructor even said she’d most likely do better in the ring than her dog.  Eeegads!  But when we got to the stays, FORGET IT!  She got up on her sit and took a stroll.  On her down, she got up and ran to the rodeo stalls to sniff the doo-doo even with her mom (me!) calling her back.  Then she went down on her sit, and stood on her down.  We practiced for a long time, until I ended up leashing her and starting back from 6 feet away, which won’t wash for the AKC trial on Sunday.  But she stayed.  Sort of.  I had to talk to her along the way to make her stay, the little witch!   (Mind you, at home, she does the stays consistently every night!)

There is a practice match on Friday for this very trial, which I am now thinking of going to with the beast in tow since her lack of respect for authority (me) has developed so fine.  I am sure she is going to surprise me with whatever she has on her mind, as in a leftover grudge from something I did during her childhood that she’s still has on her payback list.  I hope I don’t end up having to pry the clicker out of her nose!

Baby at the Fort Lauderdale Dog Show

Baby, aka Mr. T … OK, Prissy T and T stands for Temperamental,

Prissy T

she did NOT get her 3rd leg today at the Fort Lauderdale Dog Show and Trial extravaganza. OK, it was hot. Just look at her tongue. And that was just from getting out of the truck.

So what happened? During the last five seconds of the sit stay exercise, Baby stood, got that impish look in her eye, and ran acrosss the ring to me. It was a replay of Monday night practice!

I didn’t feel like sitting. I felt like running.

She completed her down stay fine. As I walked around her, though, she started to get up, but thought better of it, and relaxed back into the down stay position until I told her to heel. For that, I was happy. I guess she threw me a bone.

But the judge didn’t. He even had me move Baby after I had lined her up for the recall, which Baby did do. But the judge gave me a hard time and told me to move to the left 6 inches. Ewwkay.

The judge, Oxandale, a math genius guy

He did award my friend a good score, and she and her Sheltie, Ophelia, won the Novice B class with a 198.5 and HIT (High in Trial!). The next day, this team did the same thing with a 197 under another judge named Feathers.

Here is another club member with her Sheltie. They showed in Rally Novice and did a nice job as a team.

This is Heidi, who nearly passed Open A on Saturday, if not for a glitch on hearing her handler call out, “Heidi come!” She came on the second call, but that was an NQ. Otherwise, she did wonderfully. On Sunday, she did pass Open A, with a score in the 190s! You don’t get to see Wire Haired Fox Terriers in obedience too often.

This is a steward who befriended the Papillon of another steward. I love that!

This lovely Peekingese is owned by a vendor at the show. She is very diva-like, too…

like somebody else I know and love.

Baby! The Original Diva.

At home, while I unpacked and pouted, Baby ran onto the futon where she surrounded herself by pillows and admirers who watched her drift off into her favorite kind of sleep…the beauty kind.

Time for the Diva beauty sleep gathering
